PHELI CORCORAN
Synopsis:
Pheli Corcoran is a romantic comedy set in a pre-troubles 1960’s Ireland. It tells the story of an Irish farmer who struggles to run his small farm whilst bringing up his young son. Pheli lives with his strong willed mother who hopes that her son will find love again following the death of his wife. The story is set in Newtownhill, a small rural town where scams to make a buck are the order of the day. The powerful and influential John Sharkey is standing for election to the local Council and is determined to sweep to victory on a clean ticket. He appears to have the perfect credentials. But Pheli discovers something about him that could jeopardise Sharkey’s reputation as an honest man of the people. With Pheli falling for Sharkey’s daughter, he is put in a precarious predicament – does he expose Sharkey and risk alienating himself from the woman he loves, or keep quiet....
